Barba Vasilis As Greek as it gets

Turn off Mamma Mia (or put it on mute: You still want to be able to see Colin Firth) and listen up: The musical is not an accurate representation of Greece. However, Barba Vasilis, on the ground floor of boutique hotel Troya Balat, is a wholly authentic Greek tavern. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Vasil serves mouth-watering meze with a focus on seafood. Dig into plates of grilled octopus and calamari, and round them off with traditional dips like fava, tirokafteri (a cheese spread) and skordalia (garlicky goodness). If the promise of fresh food doesn’t get your heart pumping, then maybe the live Greek music played Wednesday to Saturday will. Unfortunately, no Abba tunes.
